Karen Watson

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy - University of Queensland - 1997
Senior Occupational Therapist

Karen travelled and worked around Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada in her early years as an OT. When she returned to Australia, beautiful childhood holiday memories lured her to Far North Queensland where she found a job and then met and married a local dairy farmer. Karen still feels lucky to be living on the Tablelands and thinks it’s one of the most beautiful and liveable places on earth.

Karen is a Mum to 4 children, all homeschooled, and the roles within her family take up most of her time and a large amount of her thoughts. Karen says, “I always marvel that no one is trained formally to be a parent, but it is no less challenging than becoming a professional in any occupation, maybe moreso.”

Karen loves working as a part of the team at The Whole Child, and especially enjoys connecting with children and families, having fun problem solving and learning through play. Karen finds it deeply satisfying to see kids empowered to achieve their goals and on their way to living their best lives.

With her family Karen likes to swim in the many beautiful lakes, rivers and creeks on the Tablelands. Karen enjoys reading and learning about parenting, psychology and positive communication. Karen also likes to walk, cycle and do a bit of gardening when the weather is good.
