Sarah Weeks

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy - James Cook University - 2013
Senior Occupational Therapist

Sarah has been lucky enough to have worked in a variety of different jobs and locations throughout rural and remote Queensland including Rockhampton, Mount Isa and the Atherton Tablelands, as well as overseas in Ireland and Vietnam. Sarah loves working in rural regions and is grateful for the opportunity to provide service to communities that may not otherwise have access to them.

Sarah has worked in a range of settings including Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation and paediatrics in remote communities. Her work and travel experiences have led her to naturally integrate and refine her cross cultural therapy skills.

In her work with The Whole Child Sarah regularly visits Ravenshoe, Innot Hot Springs and Mount Garnet. Sarah enjoys the drive and does a lot of professional development, listening to audio books, while she’s driving. She also loves listening to fiction and if you’d travelled with her recently you would have heard the Harry Potter series.

Sarah is particularly enthusiastic about play and the impact it has on the lives of both children and adults. It’s thanks to Sarah that we’ve included equipment like our scooter board ramp and swings that can be used by people of all ages. Sarah’s nature is very easy going and down to earth and she describes herself as a “no dramas” sort of person. We love having Sarah as part of the team at The Whole Child with her ability to think of practical solutions as well as her way of connecting and building relationships with people from every walk of life.

Outside of work Sarah loves to be outdoors with her family. You might find her hiking, gardening, swimming or travelling.
