Just the thought of being out in nature has us breathing easier, relaxing our bodies and yearning for some time out there in a place less ordered.
The outside world inspires us, grounds us, allows us to come into sync with ourselves and each other… with a slower pace. Somehow, there is healing and renewal when we make the time to be in nature.
Nature therapy can mean many things and it may vary between sessions. At The Whole Child nature therapy might include:
- Being outside in nature during our sessions
- Playing with items from nature (stones, pieces of wood, wooden toys)
- Taking some moments to look out the window, watch butterflies and birds, or read books about nature
- Making a plan for nature connection & nature experience to happen more regularly for a family
- Use of essential oils to bring elements of nature into therapy
